WHO WE ARE
SINGLE MINDED is an evangelical Christian initiative which seeks to resource a positive, biblical conversation about singleness within the Christian life and community.
Our vision is to TEACH WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS about singleness, marriage, sexuality, identity, relationships and other topics in order to:
Encourage Single Christians to grow in their understanding of God's purposes for their singleness, their love and knowledge of Jesus, their gospel-shaped service and in godly living.
Equip Married Christians, ministers and churches to think more biblically about singleness, and to better love, pastor and serve their single brothers and sisters in Christ as they seek to glorify him together.
DANIELLE (DANI) TREWEEK
Founding Director & Chair
After studying at Moore Theological College and serving in parish ministry for 7 years, Dani undertook PhD research in a theological ethic of singleness. She completed this in 2020. Dani is passionate about resourcing the evangelical church with a more exciting, expansive and biblically faithful theology of singleness. You can read more about her and see her work at her website. She loves being an aunt to Matthew, Benjamin (who is with Jesus) and Emily. She doesn't drink coffee but is an unapologetic chai snob.
MEET THE COUNCIL
Nigel is the Senior Minister of Christ Church St Ives and serves as the Deputy Chair of Single Minded. He’s passionate about helping Christian people understand singleness and enabling churches to thoughtfully love and care for their single members. Nigel is married to Nicky and he has four adult children, a dog, a cat and a passion for gardening, reading and running.
Using the skills from her day job as a bookkeeper, Miriam serves as our treasurer. She wants to make sure that other single people can get the same encouragement and support in embracing singleness that she has received from her family and church. Miriam loves being the fun aunty to a dozen nieces and nephews, and agrees with Dani that chai is the best hot drink around.
Penny enjoyed a lucrative career as a marketing executive but left it behind to devote her energies to serving Jesus. Penny is married with adult children and lives in the Southern Highlands with her husband and two naughty kitties. Penny embraces all things 1950s and enjoys baking, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Commonly known to his friends and family as Simon he loves music, adrenaline activities, coffee catchups, building community and investing deeply in people. Si (as his friends call him) is keen to serve the Lord Jesus as a single man, and desires that all Christians, whether single or married, support each other in the service of God’s kingdom. He is currently finishing a degree in Social Work and intends to move into the field next year.
Tamara loves the church, and longs to see it be a community within which all can belong as one in Christ. She has a background within parish ministry, but currently keeps things moving as an administrative assistant while she studies a Masters in Pastoral Counselling. She is married to James and lives in the Illawarra, has two dogs, three cats, and a bunch of chickens, and can be found working or reading in a cafe, pottering in her garden, or on her best days, on her stand up paddleboard somewhere beautiful.
Assumpta is a passionate advocate for honouring and upholding singleness in the church family. She finds an easy and spontaneous happiness in God's creation, and creating things herself (she has many varieties of homemade kombucha). Assumpta dotes on her niece and nephew, Vera and Ajay, loves trying unusual things, and going on spur-of-the-moment road trips.
